Apopka, FL : Car crashes into dental office in Seminole County on Wednesday, December 23, 2015

Seminole County dentist Dr. Carlos Martin is used to working with his hands, but Wednesday he had a completely different kind of job to do when he arrived at his office.

Early Wednesday morning, a Ford Mustang plowed into his Bear Lake Road dental office, crashing through a wall and into what used to be a room used for teeth cleaning.

If there is one thing to be grateful for, it’s that the crash happened when no one was in the room, Martin said.

“If this would be (during business hours), there would be two, three dead people inside there,” he said.

Police are still investigating the crash and have not released a reason the car left the road and ran into Martin’s office. The name of the driver has also not been released.

The driver was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Martin’s office has been operating in its current location since 1975. The equipment in the damaged room alone will cost about $25,000 to replace, so it will be a hard road to reopening his practice.

But Martin said he was going to do everything he could to open the doors again.
“I spend more time here than in my own house,” he said. “I’ve been a dentist for 37 years. This is what I love.”

Investigators are working to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The name of the driver has not been released.
