Summerville, AL : Two people died and three children injured in a head-on collision in Blount County on Monday morning, April 27, 2015

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle traffic accident this morning in Blount County, and three children involved in the wreck were transported to the hospital, according to the Alabama State Troopers.

Erin Elizabeth Drake, 19, of Oneonta, was killed when the 2002 Jeep she was driving collided head-on with a 1999 Ford driven by Stevie Ann Thompson, 24, of Blountsville.

Both Drake and Thompson were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement tonight from Trooper spokesman Curtis Summerville.

In addition, three small children who were riding with Thompson were transported to Children's of Alabama in Birmingham. One of the children was airlifted.

The crash occurred at 10:25 a.m. on Blount County 47 seven miles north of Blountsville. Thompson was not using a seat belt.

No other information is available as troopers continue to investigate, according to Summerville.
