LEWISVILLE, TX : Ruptured gas tank causes fire in I-35E truck crash in Lewisville on Wednesday, 20th December 2023

An 18-wheeler caught fire after a crash ruptured its gas tank on Interstate 35E in Lewisville on Wednesday morning, police said.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-35E near the Garden Ridge exit, just south of the Lewisville Lake bridge.

Police said a truck hauling home goods crashed into an outside retaining wall and caught fire when the gas tank ruptured. The driver was able to get out of the big rig and was not injured. Police had to shut down the Garden Ridge exit while crews responded to the fire.
