Aspinwall,PA : 17-year-old bicyclist killed in Beaver County vehicle crash on may, Monday 22th 2017

A teenage bicyclist died Monday night after he was struck by a vehicle on Route 18 in Beaver County, authorities said.

Jordan Bobin, 17, a Mohawk High School senior, was pronounced dead shortly before 9 p.m. at UPMC Presbyterian, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

Bobin of Wampum was riding his bike about 4:45 p.m. on Wampum Road in Big Beaver when he was struck at the intersection of Route 18, state police said.

Bobin was taken by ambulance to Ellwood City Hospital and flown to Pittsburgh. Police indicated on the crash report that Bobin failed to stop at the intersection.

Mohawk Superintendent Michael Leitera released the following statement: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. We have talked to several of the county schools as well as our student assistance provider. We will have many additional counselors ready to deal with student and staff needs.”
