Middletown , OH : 28- Years old Man injured later killed after Head on Crash in Warren County on Wednesday evening , January 14h 2015
A 28-year-old Middletown man, described as “very Godly,” died of internal injuries Wednesday evening after a head-on crash in Warren County.
Diego Castro, of the 600 block of Sixteenth Avenue, was driving north in the southbound lane of Columbia Road just before 6:15 p.m. when he struck another car head-on, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lebanon Post.
Castro’s green 1997 Saturn XL struck a red 2012 Mazda MX-5 driven by Thomas W. Ludeke, 57, of Loveland, along Columbia Road north of McKinley Boulevard in Lebanon, troopers said.
Ludeke was taken to Bethesda North Hospital. Information about his condition was unavailable.
Castro was taken to West Chester Medical Center where he died at 8:43 p.m. during surgery, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office. His death was ruled accidental, the coroner’s office said.
The crash remains under investigation, troopers said, but they don’t expect charges to be filled.
Castro was returning home from his job in Lebanon at the time of the accident, his friends said.
Castro, a native of Guatemala, leaves behind a longtime girlfriend and his parents, who live in his homeland. Friends are hoping to raise enough money to return his body to Guatemala, they said. They have established an account at Chase bank under Latinos Ynidos. Deposits must be made in check or money order and should include Castro’s name. Friends estimate the cost of about $6,000.
Nichole La Grandier-Agustin, who attended Rock of Refuge, a Hispanic church with Castro in Lebanon, described him as “very dedicated to God” and always smiling.
Mireyls Torres, who is married to Castro’s cousin, said the state patrol notified the family of his death Thursday morning.
“We couldn’t believe it,” she said while sitting at a table in Castro’s home. “It’s hard to explain. We are shocked.”
