Gering,NE : Gering woman injured in pedestrian-car collision on June, Sunday 18th 2017

A 46-year-old Gering woman is recovering after being injured in a car-pedestrian accident last week.

Shelly Encina is listed in fair condition at Regional West Medical Center, a Regional West house supervisor said Monday.

Encina was injured Friday morning after she was struck by a driver at the 17th and U Street intersection, Officer Dale Schneider said. Robert Rader, of Gering, had been traveling north on 17th Street and told officers he looked both ways when he stopped at the U Street intersection. However, he did not see a Encina, who was crossing the street, as he entered the intersection and struck the woman, Schneider said.

Encina was transported to Regional West Medical Center by Valley Ambulance.
