Town of Polk, WI : 79-year-old man injured after a hit-and-run crash in Washington County on Sunday night, Nov 1, 2015
Authorities in Washington County are looking for the driver of an sports-utility vehicle that hit a 79-year-old man Sunday night and fled.
At about 9:30 p.m., the victim was walking near a mailbox on Mayfield Road north of Western Ave. in the Town of Polk when the southbound SUV hit the man.
A witness said the driver stopped briefly, talked to the victim and drove away at a high speed, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
The suspect vehicle was last seen going northbound on Mayfield Road and turning eastbound on Sherman Road.
The vehicle is described as a dark blue Saturn VUE. The driver is described as clean-shaven with longer brown wavy hair and appeared to be in his mid-20s. It is unknown if there is damage to the vehicle. The victim hit the front of the SUV and was on the hood at one point.
