Greeley, CO : Fort Lupton man dies in Brighton traffic crash on Friday, 7th October 2016
A 61-year-old Fort Lupton man died Friday after a traffic crash in Brighton.
The crash happened about 11:15 a.m. when Adan Montes was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his wife, Eva Somano Rojas, 49. The vehicle, a Honda Accord, was heading south on Weld County Road 27, which at that location also is called North Main Street. The vehicle struck another vehicle at the intersection with Weld County Road 6, which also is East Crown Prince Boulevard, according to a news release issued Saturday from the Weld County Coroner’s Office.
Brighton police media liason John Bradley said a truck had been stopped at a stop sign when it pulled in front of the Accord driven by Somano Rojas. The Accord struck the truck and wound up underneath it, Bradley said.
Montes died at the scene. Somano Rojas, was taken by air to a nearby hospital. Bradley said he was not sure which hospital she had been taken to, nor did he know her condition.
The driver of the truck, Jesus Nunez, 35, was questioned and released, pending charges, Bradley said.
Montes is the 43rd person to die so far this year on Weld County roads. Through this date last year, 54 people had died.
