Ocala, FL : Trenton man dies after Levy County crash on April, Thursday 6th 2017
A Trenton man is dead and three other people are seriously injured following a three-vehicle traffic crash in Levy County Thursday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol identified the man who died as 89-year-old Darrell W. Gates.
One driver, Janice Williamson O’Neill, 73, of Trenton, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital and was in serious but stable condition, according to an FHP media release.
Another driver, Rafael Avalos, 18, of Bronson, was critically injured. His passenger, Adolfo Avalos, 29, of Bronson, was seriously injured. They were at Shands in stable condition.
The FHP reported that the crash was still under investigation. It involved two pickup trucks, driven by the Gates and Rafael Avalos, and a 2014 Infiniti QX70 that O’Neill was driving.
The accident occurred at 8:57 a.m. on County Road 346A (Northwest 160 Street) at Northwest 10th Avenue, according to troopers.
The three injured people were wearing seat belts, trooper said. Gates was not.
