North Las Vegas, NV : Scooter rider killed and a motorist arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run crash in North Las Vegas on Sunday, April 24, 2016

Police say a scooter rider was killed and a motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run following a weekend crash in North Las Vegas.

Officer Ann Cavaricci (kah-vah-REE'-chee) said it appeared the moped and a Chevrolet Tahoe collided late Sunday while both were heading west on Lake Mead Boulevard near Allen Lane.

Police found the man dead at the scene. His name wasn't immediately made public.

Police say a witness followed the Tahoe and directed officers to find it at a nearby discount store parking lot where the alleged driver, 20-year-old Christian Potter, was arrested after a brief struggle with officers.

Potter was held at the Las Vegas city jail on multiple felony charges pending an initial appearance in North Las Vegas Justice Court.
