Lake Havasu City, AZ : One injured in 3-vehicle accident at Lake Havasu Avenue and West Acoma Boulevard Tuesday afternoon, March 14, 2017

A three-vehicle accident occurred at Lake Havasu Avenue and West Acoma Boulevard Tuesday afternoon – the two vehicles and one semi each carried a passenger.

“Essentially, a semi-truck was going westbound on Acoma and failed to stop for the stop sign, (the driver) was actually looking ahead toward the stop light (on State Route 95) and just didn’t realize until he was already through it,” said Sgt. Jerry Burns of the Lake Havasu City Police Department.

According to Burns, the two vehicles heading northbound on Lake Havasu Avenue occupied the left and right lanes before the accident occurred. The driver of the vehicle in the left lane “saw him, tried to get out of the way, was hit and rotated” and the driver of the vehicle in the right lane “ended up in the side” of the semi, he said.

One female was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries while the other two drivers refused medical, said Battalion Chief James Whitt of the Lake Havasu City Fire Department.
