Las Cruces, N.M : Luis Armando Renteria Jr., 13, died in a fatal crash on Interstate 25 north of Las Cruces on Friday, September 30, 2016

New Mexico State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 25 north of Las Cruces.

The crash happened about 7 p.m. Friday near mile marker 12.

A car traveling on Interstate 25 had a tire blowout and rolled into the median, state police officials said. Two children in the rear seat were ejected. Luis Armando Renteria Jr., 13, of Las Cruces, died in the crash. A 5-year-old child, the vehicle's driver and front-seat passenger were transported to University Medical Center in El Paso and they are expected to survive.

This crash remains under investigation.
