Colorado Springs, CO : Soldier from Fort Carson Killed Walking Across Freeway on Interstate 25 near midnight Saturday on August 30, 2014

A 23-year-old Fort Carson soldier died after he was struck by two cars on Interstate 25 near midnight Saturday, the Colorado State Patrol said. The man was trying to cross northbound I-25, from the southbound lane near the South Academy Boulevard exit, troopers said. A spokesman from Fort Carson confirmed he was a soldier there, but the post declined to give other details. His name is being withheld until next of kin are notified, troopers said. A Toyota Tacoma and Hyundai Azera were traveling northbound in the right lane when both vehicles hit the man. The driver of the Toyota was identified as 46-year-old Adela Marquez of Denver. The driver of the Hyundai was Sarah King of Colorado Springs, troopers said. Both drivers and King's passenger were not injured in the crash. The man died on scene.
