TUSCARAWAS TWP, AL : Driver injured in Tuscarawas Township crash on Wednesday, November 30th, 2016

A 65-year-old Canton Township man was seriously injured in a crash Wednesday morning along state Route 241 near Alabama Avenue NW, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.The man's vehicle slid off the roadway just before noon when he tried to avoid hitting an Amish buggy, which also was traveling north on Route 241. The man's vehicle also hit a tree and a utility pole. He was taken to Affinity Medical Center by the Brewster Fire Department, and later transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, the release states.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected, according to the release, which also states the driver was not wearing his seatbelt.

The operator of the Amish buggy made no contact with the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
