Cocoa, FL : Two people dead and two others injured after a crash in Brevard County early Sunday morning, January 24, 2016
Two people are dead and two others injured after a crash in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened Sunday just before 1 a.m. at the intersection of Clearlake Road and Rosetine Street in Cocoa.
A Cocoa police officer attempted to pull over a Nissan Altima driven by 30-year-old Quantarius Miller. Miller didn’t stop the car and continued eastbound on Rosetine Street at a high rate of speed, troopers said.
A Toyota RAV4 driven by 64-year-old Paul Turner was traveling southbound on Clearlake Road approaching the intersection. Miller ran the red light and collided with Turner’s vehicle, which had the green light, according to the crash report.
Miller’s Nissan then struck a fire hydrant and a traffic signal control box before crashing into a concrete wall. The car overturned and Miller was ejected and thrown against the wall.
Miller and his passenger 27-year-old Michelle Jenkins died.
The driver of the Toyota and his passenger were taken to Wuesthoff Hospital with injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
