FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL : I-57 closes in Jefferson County due to semi crash on Saturday, 27th April 2024

I-57 is closed in Jefferson County after a crash involving a semi.

The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency (FCEMA) alerted locals of the closure at 9:15 on Saturday morning. The wreck occurred at the 84 mile marker on the northbound side of the road.

Officials say drivers are unable to get through this path and must divert off the highway at the Sesser exit. Crews urge drivers to avoid this path and utilize other routes.

An exact reopening timeline has not been given, but the FCEMA expects to be on scene within the hour.
