A South Greensburg man died in a two-vehicle, head-on crash early Saturday in Hempfield.

Michael J. Luther, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene after his sport-utility vehicle collided with another SUV about 1:30 a.m. on Arona Road near Greek Road, according to Westmoreland County Deputy Coroner Sean R. Hribal.

Luther was driving east on Arona Road when his Suzuki XL-7 crossed the center line into the opposite lane of traffic and collided with a Subaru Forester. Information on a passenger in Luther's vehicle and the occupants of the Subaru was not immediately available.

Luther was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, Hribal said. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.

State police are investigating.
