Lansing, MI : Man dies in three-car crash on I-96

One man died in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 96 on Monday morning after the car he was driving crossed the median into oncoming eastbound traffic.
The man was driving westbound in a car around 8 a.m. when he was rear-ended near Dietz Road, causing him to cross the median, where he collided with a truck hauling an empty horse trailer travelling eastbound, said Detective Sgt. Greg Harris, a spokesman for the Ingham County Sheriff's Office.
The driver of the car that crossed the median died. Officials have not released his name or hometown.The driver who caused the initial collision in the westbound lanes was transported to the hospital for minor injuries and the driver of the truck was treated at the scene, Harris later wrote in an email.
The accident occurred on a stretch of the freeway between M-52 and Williamston Road. The eastbound traffic lanes were closed until 1 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
