A driver was rushed to a Las Vegas area hospital Friday after crashing into a cement barrier and a retaining wall, according to police.

Sgt. Richard Strader, of Las Vegas Metro police, said a call of the single-vehicle wreck on West Warm Springs Road, between Buffalo Drive and Rainbow Boulevard, came in about 4:30 a.m.

The eastbound driver traveled off the road, struck a cement barrier, bounced off it and circled back, Strader said. The vehicle then struck a retaining wall in front of a business.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was transported to University Medical Center Trauma with life-threatening injuries.

Strader noted the driver was unrestrained and no airbags were deployed.

It was not immediately known if the driver was impaired.
