PHOENIX, AZ : 1 killed, 5 hospitalized after fiery crash in north Phoenix on Friday, 5th July 2024
One person is dead, and five others are hospitalized after a fiery crash in north Phoenix on Friday night.
Firefighters were called to a multi-vehicle crash near 56th Street and Pinnacle Peak Road, just west of Scottsdale Road, around 8:45 p.m. Phoenix Fire arrived and extinguished the two vehicles that were on fire.
Phoenix Fire says six people were taken to the hospital in critical condition. However, 53-year-old Juliene Aumani later died from her injuries at the hospital.
According to Phoenix police, a 19-year-old woman was driving a Fiat and heading westbound on Pinnacle Peak Road when for an unknown reason, went off the road, hitting some bushes and Palo Verde trees.
Authorities say the woman then went back on the road and collided into a Toyota Corolla that had five people inside, including Aumani. One person inside the Corolla was seriously injured but expected to survive, while three others are in stable condition. The 31-year-old Corolla driver was not injured.
The 19-year-old Fiat driver remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
