Elkins,WV : Two injured in Beverly Five-lane wreck on June, Thursday 29th 2017

Two individuals were flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a two-vehicle accident in the early morning hours Thursday, officials said.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., a vehicle driven by a woman, who officials with the West Virginia State Police declined to identify, was traveling south on the Beverly Five-lane when it went left of center, crossed four lanes of traffic and struck another vehicle head-on, police said.

All lanes of traffic had to be blocked and the woman was extracted from the vehicle by the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department.

Two HealthNet choppers landed on the Five-lane and the extent of the injuries sustained by the woman, as well as a man in the vehicle that was struck, were unknown as of presstime; however, WVSP officials said they were both “conscious and alert” at the scene and were transported for “precautionary reasons.”

Citations have yet to be issued but the accident is still under investigation by Cpl. D.R. Wolford Jr. of the WVSP.

The Elkins Police Department, Elkins Fire Department and Randolph County EMS assisted on scene.
