Brannan Island, California
Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision Friday evening on Highway 12, just east of Brannan Island Road in the Delta, officials say. Just after 10 p.m., a westbound Oldsmobile driven by a male on Highway 12 crossed double-yellow lines to pass traffic and collided with a Chevrolet driven by a female from Modesto. The impact killed the woman, said Officer Michael Bradley, California Highway Patrol spokesman. The Oldsmobile veered right off the highway and caught fire, Bradley said. Another vehicle, a Honda driven by a male from Pittsburg, crashed into the rear end of the Chevrolet. The Honda's driver suffered minor injuries, Bradley said. Witnesses attempted to save the Oldsmobile's driver, who they say was alive when the vehicle caught fire, but were unable to free him, Bradley said. Authorities have not released identities of the drivers. No other passengers were in any of the involved vehicles, the CHP report said. Highway 12 was shut down for more than four hours due to the collision cleanup. Source : BRIEF: Two people die in head-on collision on Highway 12 in Delta
