AVON, ME : Livermore Falls man, Massachusetts family injured in Avon collision on Saturday, August 12, 2017
Five people were injured Saturday morning after a car driven by Kenneth Lowell, 22, of Livermore Falls, went out of control, went sideways into the opposite lane on Route 4 in Avon and collided with an SUV driven by William Bythrow, 48, of Raynham, Maine State Police Trooper Rick Moody said. One vehicle was fully engaged in flames when Phillips Fire Department arrived on the scene, according to the department's Facebook page.
Trooper Eric Bronson responded to an accident at about 10:30 a.m. involving a 2002 Mercury Sable that had been reported to be traveling at a “high rate of speed,” Trooper Rick Moody said in an email Monday.
The car driven by Kenneth Lowell, 22, of Livermore Falls was heading south when he began to lose control of it in a turn and it went sideways and struck an oncoming SUV driven by William Bythrow, 48, of Raynham, Massachusetts, he said.
Lowell received head injuries and Bythrow and his passengers, Coletta Bythrow, 44, William Bythrow, 10, and Connor Bythrow, 8, “all received possible injuries from the impact,” Moody said.
They were all treated and released from Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, an FMH spokeswoman said.
While Lowell was at the hospital, he was issued a summons on a criminal charge of driving to endanger and a summons for failing to maintain control of motor vehicle and operating left of center, Moody said.
NorthStar EMS ambulance crews responded to the scene.
Bronson was assisted at the scene by Trooper Randy Hall, Franklin County Sheriff's Office and Phillips Fire Department.
