Glenfield, PA: Two people killed in four-vehicle collision on Interstate 79 Glenfield Friday morning August 7th 2015
A motorist from Ohio Township and a tractor-trailer driver from Armstrong County were killed and two other people were injured in a fiery four-vehicle collision early Friday afternoon along Route 65 near the Interstate 79 interchange in Glenfield.
Dale W. Stetzer, 69, of Ohio Township, who was driving a car, and William Anthony Cessna, 52, of Apollo, whose rig “exploded into flames,” died in the crash that occurred at 12:39 p.m., state police said.
Two other motorists — whose names were not released — suffered what troopers called “non-life threatening injuries.”
The crash forced police to shut down the busy highway through the evening rush hour. The northbound lanes reopened at 7:09 p.m. and the southbound lanes at 8:15 p.m., troopers said.
Stetzer was traveling north and the tractor-trailer was traveling south and passing a transit van when Stetzer's car crossed the center of the highway and collided with the oncoming rig, state police said.
Following impact, Stetzer's car spun around and collided with a car traveling behind it, police said. As the rig exploded, it caught the van on fire as well, they said.
Video from the scene showed debris from several vehicles strewn across the road.
