FREMONT, CA : Man killed in I-680 big-rig crash in Fremont on Wednesday, June 7, 2017

A man was killed Wednesday morning when his car crashed into a big-rig on I-680 near South Mission, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man’s name was not released.

The wreck happened about 8:21 a.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of the freeway.

The CHP said the man was driving a Honda that crashed into the rear of the truck and became wedged underneath. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Sig Alert was issued at 8:47 a.m. and at least one lane of the freeway was blocked while officers investigated. All lanes were reopened by 9:35 a.m. after the alert was cancelled.
