A Knoxville man killed when a driver struck him and a number of others in an Oak Ridge parking lot following Fourth of July fireworks has been identified.
James Robinson, 37, of Knoxville was struck by a Dodge Ram truck driven by Lee Cromwell, 65, of Oak Ridge.
Authorities transported Robinson to Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge where he later died. Police officers determined eight vehicles were struck by the Dodge Ram truck driven by Cromwell.
"As I understand, Mr. Robinson's wife and children are out of the hospital," Oak Ridge Police Chief James Akagi said. "Of course, it's a tragedy for them, and they all remain in our thoughts and prayers."
Oak Ridge police responded around 10:23 p.m. Saturday after receiving several calls about a truck hitting several vehicles and people in the parking lot at the Midtown Community Center located in the 100 block of Robertsville Road.
Nine other people were injured, all with non-life threatening injuries. Seven people were sent to area hospitals via ambulance, and two were transported in personal vehicles.
Authorities said Cromwell was uninjured.
