Shelocta , PA : tractor-trailer driver killed after pickup truck's collision with a tractor-trailer on Saturday, February 21st 2015
Authorities say speed and weather-related road conditions were a factor in a pickup truck's collision with a tractor-trailer that killed the driver of the smaller vehicle in western Pennsylvania.
State police in Armstrong County say the pickup was "traveling too fast for conditions" heading downhill on a snow-covered Route 422 in Plumcreek Township at about 6:40 p.m. Saturday.
Police said the pickup went out of control and hit a guardrail before veering into the eastbound lane where it was struck by a tractor-trailer.
Police said 43-year-old Michael Slupski of Erie was taken to Armstrong County Memorial Hospital and then flown to UPMC Presbyterian, but died shortly after 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured. Police said the crash remains under investigation.
