Joplin, MO : Barry County woman killed in crash near Butterfield on Tuesday, 13th March 2018
A Wheaton woman was killed and a Purdy resident injured in a two-vehicle collision at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday on Route W, 3 miles west of Butterfield in Barry County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
One of the drivers, Debra L. Heffington, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barry County coroner. The other driver, Jacqueline M. Wasson, 60, was taken to Cox Monett Hospital with moderate injuries.
Heffington's eastbound car crossed the centerline and struck Wasson's westbound vehicle head-on, the patrol said.
• A Lebanon man suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 9 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 49, about 5 miles south of Joplin in Newton County, according to the state patrol.
Dwayne A. Hough, 55, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Joplin.
Hough was driving a northbound tractor-trailer that ran off the road into the median and struck a guardrail, the patrol said.
• Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on Missouri Highway 43 at Deer Drive in Joplin, according to a Joplin Police Department report.
Both drivers, Tammy M. Donahue, 57, and Vanna N. Baker, 62, both of Joplin, and a passenger in Donahue's vehicle, Shaylee L. Doke, 17, of Joplin, were taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin for treatment of injuries.
Donahue was driving a southbound vehicle that crossed the centerline and collided with Baker's northbound vehicle, the report said.
