Woodland, CA : Woodland man killed in truck by a vehicle collision on Wednesday October 19th 2016
The Woodland resident who died after being being struck by a vehicle in town early Wednesday morning has been identified.
Dead is Romeo Antonio, 64, who was hit at about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Pioneer Avenue and East Beamer Street in Woodland.
According to Woodland Police Sgt. Brett Hancock, the vehicle that hit Antonio was a white, 1996 Cadillac driven by Woodland resident Juvenal Navarro. Navarro was traveling northbound on Pioneer Avenue when the sedan entered the intersection and struck Antonio.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver entered the intersection on a green light and never saw the pedestrian,” Hancock reported.
Antonio was declared dead at the scene and was not immediately identified so that his next of kin could be notified before the public.
Further investigation into the collision is continuing and being conducted by the Traffic Division of the Police Department.
