Las Cruces, NM : State Police investigate fatal crash in Las Cruces on Saturday September 3 2016

New Mexico State Police investigated a pedestrian fatal crash which occurred at 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 10 near mile marker 143 in Las Cruces.

Officers at the scene reported a male pedestrian was walking across the westbound roadway inside the westbound lanes of travel when a Volkswagen passenger car traveling westbound struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, later identified as Eric Olvera, 26, of El Paso sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the passenger car was uninjured.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in this crash. This crash remains under investigation.
