Leesville, LA : 35-year-old Hineston man died in a single vehicle crash near Highway 121 on a Vernon Parish road on Thursday night, February 19, 2015

A Hineston man died late Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash near La. Highway 121 in Vernon Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Gregory H. Smith, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which happened around 10:40 p.m. on Alma Hagan Road near La. 121.

Smith was driving a 2011 Ford pickup truck when he lost control, ran off the road into a ditch and hit a large tree. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the release.

The crash is under investigation. Routine toxicology tests are pending.
