Police officer was taken to a local hospital for a precautionary examination early Sunday after his patrol car was struck on the driver's side by another vehicle at Interstate 75 and Pines Boulevard, authorities said.lRelated Pines man, 22, killed in motorcycle crash .Pines man, 22, killed in motorcycle crashOfficer Emilio Rubido, 29, was examined at Memorial West Hospital following the 5:44 a.m. crash, according to Pembroke Pines police.Gilberto R. Cuevas, 36, of Pembroke Pines, the driver of the 2015 Lexus that collided with Rubido's patrol car, had minor injuries, police said.A third driver involved in the crash, Craig M. Chin, 36, of Pembroke Pines, was not injured, police said.The collision occurred when Cuevas, travelling south on the I-75 exit ramp in a mandatory right turn lane, traveled south across Pines Boulevard and struck the patrol car, a marked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, heading east on Pines, police said.That collision pushed the patrol car into an eastbound 2010 Toyota pickup truck driven by Chin, police said.Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, police said.No charges were filed as of Sunday night.
