Macomb County, MI : Oakland County man killed in a horrific single-car crash in Macomb Township on Saturday night, April 16, 2016

A 27-year-old Troy man was killed Saturday evening in a single-car crash in Macomb Township, authorities said.

The unidentified man, who was driving a silver 2002 Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on 23 Mile Road and west of Heydenreich. He was traveling eastbound “at a high rate of speed” when he struck a telephone pole, police said.

Macomb County sheriff’s officials said alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.

The victim’s name was being withheld pending formal identification by next of kin.
