GIRARD, PA : 2 women hurt in Fairview crash in Interstate 90 in Fairview Township on Sunday, 28th April 2019

Two women were taken to the hospital after a car hit a tree Sunday along Interstate 90 in Fairview Township.

State police at Girard said Vanessa M. Johnson, 29, of Erie, suffered a suspected minor injury while a passenger, Nicole Shuster, 31, also of Erie, suffered a suspected serious injury. Both women were taken to UPMC Hamot.

Police said the crash happened Sunday at about 2:14 a.m. on I-90 just east of Exit 16/Route 98. A Kia Altima, in which the women were traveling eastbound, went off the road for about 60 feet, went up an embankment, struck a tree, overturned and spun, trapping the women inside, police said.

Police were continuing to investigate.
