A Paducah motorcyclist was taken to the hospital Friday after being hit by a sun-blinded driver, the McCracken County Sheriff's Department reported.
Deputies responded at approximately 5:20 p.m. to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lydon and Husbands roads, involving a 2004 Kia Optima and a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Deputies said Johnna Tharp, 28, of Paducah had been driving the Kia northbound on Lydon, but was blinded by the sun while approaching the intersection near Husbands. While driving, Tharp accidentally hit motorcyclist Michael Parkhill, 61, of Paducah, who had stopped at the intersection, waiting for traffic to pass.
Parkhill was taken to Mercy Regional EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Department was assisted by Handley's Towing, Farley/Reidland Fire Department and Mercy Regional EMS.
