Chicago, IL : 28-year-old woman dead in Sauk Village wreck on Wednesday, May 25, 2016
A 28-year-old Chicago woman apparently caused crash that left her dead and a semi truck plowed into an unoccupied house in Sauk Village in the South Suburbs, according to Illinois State Police.
It happened about 2:25 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Illinois Route 394 near Sauk Trail Road.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was behind the wheel of a 2006 silver Toyota car driving “at an accelerated rate of speed’’ when she suddenly changed from the far left lane into the far right lane,’’ clipping the front of a semi truck, said ISP Trooper Woodrow Montgomery.
As she spun out of control in front of the truck, both vehicles began to veer off the expressway into a grassy field where she slammed into a tree and the momentum pushed the semi into an abandoned house along Route 394, according to Montgomery. No one was in the house.
The woman had no passengers and she was pronounced dead at the scene, said Montgomery.
The 68-year-old semi driver from Chicago declined medical attention.
As of 5:15 p.m. all northbound lanes remains closed, the trooper said.
