A Winston-Salem police officer was involved in a car crash Thursday afternoon.
Officer Phillip Yates, 26, was driving a marked police car in the 3300 block of Thomasville Road at about 1:40 p.m. While attempting to make a U-turn, his 2015 Dodge Charger was hit by a 1995 Ford F-150, police said in a news release.
At the time, Yates was attempting to identify a vehicle that was sought by police in connection with an unrelated case, authorities said.
Yates and the driver of the truck, Richard Vance Clodfelter, 60, of North N.C. Highway 109, were taken to Forsyth Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
