A LeFlore County man died Friday morning after a head-on collision near Poteau.

Brian Allan Stroud, 53, of Cameron was driving a 1991 Chevrolet south on Oklahoma 112 about three miles north of Poteau, while Jeremy Don Davis, 20, of Heavener was driving north on the highway in a 2007 Volkswagen about 8 a.m. Friday, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

According to the report, Davis’ vehicle drifted left of center and struck Stroud’s vehicle head-on.

Stroud was pinned for about 20 minutes before Poteau firefighters were able to extricate him from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries, the report states.

Davis refused treatment at the scene for his injuries, according to the report.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, the report states.
