York, PA : Man severely injured in Carlisle Pike crash early Tuesday morning, September 27, 2016

The driver of a Ford Taurus was severely injured after he struck a tractor-trailer on Carlisle Pike early Tuesday morning, said Chief Francis Staab of Eastern Adams Regional Police.

The man was driving the Taurus south around 6 a.m. near Hanover Street when he crossed into the northbound lane, striking a tractor-trailer, Staab said.

The driver of the Taurus was rushed to York Hospital with severe injuries.

Because of the amount of heavy fog this morning, a helicopter was unable to transport the driver to the hospital, and he was instead taken by ambulance, Staab said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer did not sustain any injuries.
