Dodge City, AL : Walter Jas Herron, 85, died in crash on Interstate 65 in Dodge City on Sunday afternoon, June 21, 2015

A Cullman County man was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 65.

Walter Jas Herron, 85, of Crane Hill was driving a Toyota Avalon on I-65 in Dodge City, near mile marker 299, just after 3 p.m. when his car struck a Volvo semi-truck driven by Ion Iurlo, 42, of Kent, Washington, Alabama state troopers report.

Herron, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Iurlo was not injured in the crash.

The investigation into the crash continues.
