Center Hill, FL : Tractor trailer carrying 40,000 gallons of milk crashes on Country Road 469 in Sumter County on Tuesday morning, November 4, 2014
A truck hauling 40,000 gallons of milk crashed in Sumter County early Tuesday morning and spilled half its load on the roadway.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 469 and State Road 50.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the ASN Grain milk truck, driven by Kenneth G. McMillan, 74, from Millen, Georgia, was traveling south on CR-469 approaching SR-50 and lost control of the vehicle. The truck then crossed through the intersection and onto the south shoulder of SR-50 and overturned spilling 20,000 gallon on the shoulder.
Troopers said McMillan was transported to South Lake Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
