Monte Vista,CO : Wednesday night crash claims Mosca man on April, Wednesday 25th 2018

On Wednesday, April 18 at 11:34 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol was notifed of a single vehicle rollover crash that had occurred on Colorado 150 in Alamosa County.
The crash occurred near MP 11, south of the Great Sand Dunes entrance. A 2005 Jeep Liberty, driven by Dylan Vittoria, 24 of Mosca, was driving in a northerly direction when it drifted off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle hit a delineator post. The driver then steered the vehicle to the right, back onto the roadway, causing the vehicle to rotate in a clockwise direction. The driver of the vehicle then steered to the left, in an effort to gain control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction, on the roadway, before rolling three times while going off the left side of the roadway.
The passenger, Theodoric Ammerman, 32 of Mosca, was transported to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash.
Alcohol, speed, and drug use are being investigated as potential contributing factors. Seatbelts were used by both the driver and passenger. The crash remains under investigation.
