SPRINGFIELD,MA : Springfield one-car crash sends two to hospital with head injuries on July, Sunday 30th 2017

Two people were transported to the Baystate Medical Center with head injuries Sunday morning, after the SUV they were in went off the north side of Roosevelt Avenue, snapped a utility pole and crashed into the front steps of a home at 1003 Roosevelt Avenue.

Springfield Police Capt. Richard LaBelle said traffic in the area may be tied up Sunday morning as utility crews work to replace what they called a primary pole for the area. Police expect to be on the scene into the late morning hours.

A Springfield Police accident reconstructionist is investigating the crash, but from information gathered at the scene, it appears the Ford Explorer SUV apparently was traveling northbound on Roosevelt Avenue when for some reason the driver lost control and the car left the roadway on its right side, snapped the utility pole and continued across the lawn at 1003 Roosevelt Avenue. The careening SUV narrowly missing a car parked in an adjacent driveway and crashed into the concrete front steps of the home.
