Newtown, CT : 90-year-old driver killed in a two-car accident on South Main Street on Sunday night, April 17, 2016
A 90-year-old driver was killed in a two-car accident Sunday night on South Main Street, police said.
Henry Petrucelli, of Brookfield, was driving north about 8 p.m. when a pickup truck traveling south struck the front passenger side of his Honda Civic, according to the report.
Petrucelli, who was trapped in the car, was immediately pronounced dead, Sgt. Aaron Bahamonde said.
The other driver, a 33-year-old Shelton man, was taken to Danbury Hospital with minor injuries. Police said the man, Miguel Barragan-Santiago, does not have a valid Connecticut driver’s license.
The crash took place near Botsford Hill and Meadow Brook roads.
Petrucelli did not appear to be wearing a seat belt, but police warned that the accident is still under investigation.
“This is very much an ongoing, active investigation involving our accident reconstruction team and our detective bureau,” Bahamonde said. “They are interview witnesses and tracking a 24-hour history of each of the operators involved.”
The drivers did not have any passengers.
