Davis, CA : Winters man dies in freeway crash on Saturday, February 18th 2017

A 25-year-old Winters man died early Saturday morning after his vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree in Davis, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Solano CHP Officer Christopher Brewer said the driver, whose name was not released pending notification of next of kin, was transitioning from westbound Interstate 80 to northbound Highway 113 when his black BMW ran off the roadway “for no apparent reason” and struck the tree shortly before 2 a.m.

One lane of the transition road was blocked for more than three hours as emergency personnel worked to extricate the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
