Chico, CA : Yuba City woman suffers major injuries in Highway 99 crash on Wednesday, 24th August, 2016

A Yuba City woman suffered major injuries in a collision that tied up traffic Wednesday afternoon on Highway 99 south of Chico, officers said.

The four-car crash happened on the highway north of Shippee Road about 5:45 p.m., when a 1997 Chevrolet being driven southbound by Levonne Todd was struck from behind and forced into the oncoming lane, according to a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol.

Todd’s car struck a northbound Ford and then a northbound Dodge, according to the release.

Todd, 36, was taken to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries.

The driver that rear-ended Todd reportedly did not notice that traffic had stopped ahead of him, according to the release.

Alcohol or drugs were not suspected in the crash, and no arrests were made.

Both lanes of Highway 99 in the area were blocked for a period as officers and medics responded to the scene.
