ROGERS, MN : Central Minnesota man dies in work zone crash in Twin Cities on Thursday, 4th October 2018
A Pillager man died in an afternoon crash in a construction zone involving four vehicles on Interstate 94 on the north side of the Twin Cities.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the man killed as 59-year-old Vernon C. Hedquist.
The state patrol reported a Ford F-150 with a trailer was eastbound on Interstate 94, approaching Hennepin County Road 81 in Rogers, and a single-axle Kenworth truck was behind it. The Ford slowed for traffic and was rear-ended by the Kenworth truck. The Ford spun into a construction lane striking two stationary vehicles—a Chevrolet Silverado and a GMC construction truck.
The Ford F-150 and trailer struck two people—Hedquist and Thomas J. Wood, 64, of Maple Grove—in the construction work area. Wood was taken to a Maple Grove hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
The driver of the Ford, Oscar R. Siguencia-Orbe, 30, Minneapolis, and of the Kenworth truck, Tate R. Doom, 47, St. Paul, were not injured.
