DEERFIELD , NY : Man seriously injured in Deerfield crash on Tuesday, 3rd April 2018

A Poland man was seriously injured Tuesday after his pickup truck struck a tree, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

Terry E. Mayer, 53, was driving his truck north on Walker Road, according to deputies. Deputies further stated that witnesses said Mayer was driving erratically and striking mailboxes. Driving after hitting the mailboxes he left the roadway and struck a tree in a residential yard, authorities said.

Mayer was treated at the scene by members of the Deerfield Fire Department and Kunkel Ambulance, deputies. He was then transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with head and chest injuries.

Deputies charged Mayer with DWAI/Drugs and Operating with a Revoked license, having no insurance, unregistered vehicle, switched plates, unlicensed, failed to keep right, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and consuming alcohol in motor vehicle traffic infractions.

He will answer the charges at a later date in the Town of Deerfield, deputies said.
