Gainesville, FL : Lake City man dies in Columbia County crash on Sunday, September 10, 2017

A driver traveling in the wrong lane of State Road 247 in Columbia County struck an oncoming sports utility vehicle, whose driver suffered fatal injuries.

Ashley Nicole Purcell, 27, of Wellborn, was driving a 1998 Lexus south but in the north-bound lane when she struck a 1993 GMC driven by Haskell Wayne Overby, 69, of Lake City at 3:35 p.m. Sunday, according to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol.

Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt. Both were taken to UF Health Shands Hospital where Overby died. Purcell reportedly has critical injuries.
