Gainesville, FL : Two killed in Williston Road crash on Monday, November 14th 2016
A vehicle collision about 11 a.m. Monday on Southwest Williston Road near Southwest Wacahoota Road resulted in the death of a Williston woman and a man from Crystal River, Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Patrick Riordan said.
Calvin Lee Adams III, 29, was driving a Nissan Pathfinder north on Williston Road and tried to pass another car while in a no-passing zone, Riordan said. When he drove onto the other side of the road, his vehicle hit Michelle M. Anderson's four-door Honda Accord head-on.The two drivers, the only people in the vehicles, were killed in the crash, Riordan said. Both crushed vehicles ended up facing the same direction, and glass, tire parts and pieces of the vehicles could be seen on either side of the road.
Anderson was pinned in the vehicle because of the amount of damage, Riordan said. There were several witnesses, and during the investigation, troopers will try to understand more about the crash.
“We’re certainly in the early stages of our lengthy investigation,” Riordan said. “We’re going to try to determine what happened before the crash, during the crash and after the crash.”
The investigation could take up to 90 days or longer, Riordan said. The crash and ensuing investigation kept the road closed and traffic redirected for several hours.
